About Us

Our Story
African Basketball (ABO) was founded in 2005 by Eyo Effiong, a former Nigerian National Team and Winthrop University Men’s Basketball standout. In the summer of 2000, Effiong represented Winthrop University at the 2000 NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida, and there he was introduced to leadership education, initiatives, and programs. Effiong continues to exhibit exceptional leadership in his role as President of ABO, and he organizes leadership and educational programs in Africa.

Our Mission
To promote scholastic excellence, HIV/AIDS Awareness, leadership education, youth and social development through basketball development programs in African countries.
